Welcome to the blog, home of InchPincherToo, for PR:BF2 or Project Reality: Battlefield 2!
I've decided myself to start giving some references for Indonesian National Armed Forces. Main purpose is to gain some feedback before make it into Project Reality (whether they're looks appropriate, good-looking, or awesome. Anything is okay, feel free to share comments and opinions below!)
NOTE: Do not expect this to be done soon!
NOTE: Do not expect this to be done soon!
A. SOLDIER MODELS
To start over, let's see the basic references for the main soldiers that will be used (Note: Do not expect this in-game to be the same as the picture):
1. Light Geometries/Models
Some Ballistic Vest and Amenities |
2. Medium Geometries/Models
Some Carrier Vest and Amenities |
3. Heavy Geometries/Models
All equipments with Ballistic Vest, Carrier Vest and Amenities |
And here some other examples:
Indonesian Army rolling in a defile |
S.A.K.T.I Vests models (R.A.S = Carrier vest and R.B.S = Ballistic vest) |
Ceramic-steel plating inside the R.B.S ballistic vest |
Closer look inside of ballistic vest |
S.A.K.T.I stands for Sistem Angkut Kelengkapan Tempur Individu ( or Individual Combat Equipment Carrying System) |
Camouflage variations for each forces (Mainly goes the for Army (AD) and Marines (AL) since Air Force doesn't relevant for the game (already had Pilot kit in-game)):
So many of them-! But for the reference, use the TNI AD/TNI AD Digital or TNI AL/TNI AL Digital |
All the references above are meant to be example, trying to make it like it's from the middle-present era from the time-place perspective. I'm very optismistic that these will be fit right in, right away.
B. HARDWARES: WEAPONRY
Now to these one, might be lot more to be done, but i have managed to give some right references (and possible work tasks) for the game, by the time and place itself. Indonesian National Armed Forces are mostly issued with the Pindad SS1 Assault Rifle (local copy of FN FNC), but in this case, i had to choose SS2 Assault Rifle, since it's the newest ones from the Pindad. And more importantly, it makes sense for PR, in real-life situations, these SS1 Rifles are gradually replaced by SS2. So, that makes it SS2 suited and fit right in as the main issued weapon for IDN Armed Forces.
1. Assault Rifle:
Pindad SS2-V1 Assault Rifle

An Indonesian Army Kopassus (Special Forces Command) soldier aiming SS2-V1 with ACOG |
Standard issued Assault Rifle in Indonesian Armed Forces (mostly in the Army), gradually replacing the SS1-V1 in service, it has butt folding stock and carrying handle (not seen here). It's gas-operated, uses 5.56 x 45 mm cartridge (30 rounds in magazines), 460 mm length for barrel (total length 985 mm) and other stats:
Firing Mode : Single, Full Auto
Cyclic : 720 - 760 rpm
Effective automatic fire : 120 - 200 rpm
Effective single shot : 60 rpm
Effective range: 400 m
With Picatiny rails (MIL-STD-1913) built-in, it has 3 variations possible for the game. This include Trijicon ACOG 4x optics, Meprolight M21 Reflex sight and carrying handle iron sight.
2. Carbine:
- Pindad SS2-V2 Carbine
Right-view of SS2-V2 with carrying handle iron sight |
An Indonesian Army soldier sit-aiming the newer version of SS2-V2 (SS2-V2HB) in AARM. It utilizes Heavy Barrel for stability firing at medium-long ranges |
Alongside the SS2-V1, this carbine was also standard issued by the Indonesian Armed Forces, replacing the SS1-V2 in service. With the same characteristics and changes on the barrel itself, improving close combat capability (recoil reductions etc.) for some operations. This one has a barrel length of 403 mm (total length 928 mm) and other stats:
Firing mode : Single, Full Auto
Cyclic : 720 - 760 rpm
Effective automatic fire : 120 - 200 rpm
Effective single shot : 60 rpm
Effective range: 300 m
It's also equipped with the Picatiny rails, which allowing this one using the same attachments as the SS1-V1 does. 3 variations including Trijicon ACOG 4x, Meprolight M21 Reflex sight and carrying handle iron sight.
- Pindad SS2-V5 Compact Carbine
Right-view of SS2-V5 with carrying handle iron sight |
Left-view of SS2-V5 with carrying handle iron sight |

The Compact Carbine version of SS2, made to gradually replacing SS1-V5 in service. It's also standard issued by Indonesian Armed Forces. This one mostly used by Indonesian Special Forces (SS2-V5C for Army Kopassus/Special Forces Commando, Navy Kopaska/Frogman, Air Force Pashkas, etc.). It has same characteristics as it's older brother (SS2-V1 and SS2-V2), allowing it for engaging enemy in CQB easily with recoil reduction while firing and reliable/easy to operate in some operations. It comes with barrel length to 255 mm (total length 755 mm) and other stats:
Firing mode : Single, Full Auto
Cyclic : 720 - 760 rpm
Effective automatic fire : 120 - 200 rpm
Effective single shot : 60 rpm
Effective range: 200 m
3. Rifles (Sniper Rifle)
Pindad SPR-3 Sniper Rifle

Looks like he's got a friend in hand, an Indonesian Army spotter helps the sniper for acquiring long-range targets |
To the Rifles section, it's has only one, which is the SPR-3, gradually replacing SPR-1 in service. It is standard issued for Indonesian Armed Forces alongside SPR-2. Both are having different rounds/cartridge used (SPR-2 = .50 BMG and SPR-3 = 7.62 x 51 mm) almost equivalent as Zastava, Accuracy International, Denel sniper rifle series. This rifle features a bolt-action operation with 660 mm length on barrel (total length 1250 mm), 10 rounds/bullet feeding, equipped with telescopic sights and other stats:
Effective range with telescopic sights : 900 m
Muzzle velocity : 800 - 810 m/s
4. Rifles (Designated Marksman Rifle/DMR)
- Heckler & Koch MSG90 DMR (STD Marksman kit)
Left-view of the basic HK MSG-90 DMR in real-life |
In DMR's section, we've got the MSG90, known as militarized-version of HK PSG-1, it is also likely has almost the same features as G3SG-1 DMR used in Indonesian Armed Forces.

NOTE: If HK MSG-90 weren't be able to made in time for release, HK G3SG-1 will be used instead as placeholder.
- Pindad SS2-V4HB Para DMR (ALT Marksman kit)

An innovative version of SS2 family, the SS2-V4 is basically DMR based on SS2, gradually replacing SS1-V4 in service. This newer version utilizes Heavy Barrel and Trijicon ACOG 4x optics (previously were standard and lengthened barrel, uses K1SS optical sight), retaining the lethality and stability firing over short-mid range fights. This weapon is made an equivalent to other DMR's, such as Dragunov SVD in terms of firing. The characteristics are almost the same as the other SS2's, but with Heavy Barrel at 500 mm length (total length 1025 mm) and other stats:
Weight (Full) : 5,36 kg's (previously 4,51 kg's)
Firing mode : Single, Full Auto (Since it's PR, full auto capability will be removed)
Cyclic : 720 - 760 rpm
Effective automatic fire : 120 - 200 rpm
Effective single shot : 60 rpm
Effective range : 500 m (previously 600 m)
I'm not really sure about this one, but it's look awesome. Well-known for gradually replacing SS2-V4 in DMR's section
5. Sub Machine Guns (SMG's)
Pindad PM2-V1 SMG
An overview of PM2-V1 sub-machine gun |
It's the first sub-machine gun ever made by Pindad, replacing PM1 (Beretta M12 copy) from service. It's also standard issued SMG in Indonesian Armed Forces. Known as gas-blowback SMG hidden from open bolts, made from hard anodized aluminum. The same view with adjustable SS1 shots is front for a temporary elevation for the rear wind. Picatiny rail (MIL-STD-1913) is arranged over the receiver for optics such as open sights or red dots. The stock handle has two features. Slided can be adjusted for higher ergonomics, or folded to get shorter weapon conditions. The cock handle is placed over the barrel on the left side for ease of operation and barrel comes with a flash hider that can be replaced with a blank firing adapter.
The barrel length is 195 mm (total length 625 mm) and other stats:
Firing mode : Single, Full Auto
Muzzle velocity : 370 m/s
Rate of fire : 680 rds/min
Effective range : 75 m

US-made Heavy Machine Gun, widely used by countries, has an improved version in Indonesian Armed Forces, known as SMB-QCB (Quick Change Barrel), a licensed version of ST Kinetics (Singapore) CIS 50 MG by Pindad.
CIS 50 MG here has features of dual-belt fed ammunition, adopting a dual-piston gas system with two gas tubes positioned each side of the barrel. With dual-piston gas technology, makes CIS 50 MG able to adopt dual system of ammunition belt, each on the right and left. In operation, this deadly weapon can carry two boxes of ammunition (each boxes contains 100, so that makes it 200) and shoot massively and simultaneous without reloading frequently.
7. Shotguns:
Benelli M3T Super 90 Shotgun (Shotgun for STD/ALT Breacher kit)
An overview of Benelli M3T Super 90 shotgun |
Next, is the shotgun section. The Armed Forces has standard issued the shotgun in service (alongside SPAS-12 apparently), it is known as an OEM variant, where the butt-stock and dummy tube have been replaced with a pistol grip and up-folding skeleton butt-stock.
There's likely lack of sources on this, so don't ask me why i choose M3T instead of SPAS-12 :P
8. Pistols:

Pindad G2 series is based on Browning HP, a local copy was made by PT. Pindad, and also standard issued by all Indonesian Armed Forces branches, replacing Pindad P1/P2 gradually in service. Has been improved with some new changes in exterior parts.
Since it's likely the possible main sidearm, if these weren't done, will be putting up Pindad P1 (Browning HP first local copy) instead as placeholder.
9. Knives/Battle Knife:
M7 Bayonet / M7 Fixed Bayonet (only available for long-barreled assault rifles)
An Indonesian Armed Forces, M7 Bayonet for SS1/SS2 rifles |

A detail look of Indonesian Marine officer examining the SA-7 Grail |
An Indonesian Army soldier practice aiming the QW-3 MANPADS in a briefing |
Lastly, it's the main MANPADS, for Indonesian Armed Forces. It's actually looks confusing that SA-7 is only in service by the Indonesian Marine Corps (Navy), and what about the Army (and Air Force)? They're known and seen using the Chinese-version of MBDA Mistral, known as QW3 MANPADS (previous models are actually copied from SA-7 Grail itself, named QW2 MANPADS). As it is, not much a problem at all for PR, besides of accuracy.
NOTE: MBDA Mistral will be used as main MANPADS, in which is now being hold. SA-7 Grail is a placeholder from now, waiting progress on the main one.
And that's all for the basic infantry equipment, the next stop is the assets and emplacements lists for Indonesian Armed Forces that can possibly used in PR. Make sure you catch-up to the next post-!
Will see you there in the next one, feel free to give comments, suggestions and reactions in sections below! ^_^
See ya soon and enjoy!
